Endoscopy
Candidates for
endoscopy range
from a chronically vomiting patient to one who just ingested something
they
weren’t supposed to. Examination and
biopsy of various internal structures without invasive surgery is
beneficial to
both patient and client. In most cases,
endoscopy costs less than surgical intervention and the recovery time is
shorter. However, like surgery, all endoscopy candidates
must be anesthetized prior to the procedure.
Types of endoscopy include:
1. Endoscopy:
examination of the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines.
2. Bronchoscopy:
examination of the lower airways.
3. Colonoscopy:
examination of the rectum and large intestines.
4. Rhinoscopy:
examination of the nasal cavity and nasopharnyx.
Radiology and Ultrasound
FVSEC provides both digital
ultrasound and radiology for your patients’ needs. Radiographs can be reviewed by a Board
Certified Radiologist at the doctor’s request 24-hours a day. Digital Radiology allows for swift evaluation
of films by either specialist or the family veterinarian. All clients are provided with a copy of their
digital radiographs to bring to their referring veterinarian. Ultrasound is a useful diagnostic tool that
allows our veterinarians to image internal structures of the thorax and
abdomen.
Hyperbaric Oxygen
Hyperbaric Oxygen
Therapy (HBOT) has been used in human medicine for years. It was originally designed to treat divers
who suffer from the bends or decompression sickness. Through years of study, HBOT has been found
to be beneficial in treating many other ailments, thus has expanded into the
veterinary field. Tissue perfusion and
sufficient oxygen are the two basic requirements for healing. HBOT accelerates healing by increasing the
amount of oxygen delivered to injured tissues.
HBOT has been successful in the healing process of:
-Gastic Dilatation
Volvus -Gastrointestinal ailments -Skin grafts
-Fracture repair -Surgical wounds -Rattlesnake
envenomation
-Burns -Spinal
Cord trauma -
Severe skin wounds
